After the failure of offline mode of application for Unique Identification Number (UID) which was hard as well as lengthy process, now applying for UID has become lot easier, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched a website where Indians will be able to book appointments for the UID card online.

This online service by UIDAI will make the process of applying for UID card easier for lakhs of users across the country. Currently, people have to travel either to the General Post Office or a UID center in their area in order to book their appointments. However, many people don’t know the address or the numbers of UID centers. Many people are not aware about UID card as well.

According to news this online service is currently available only in Chandigarh, but more states will be added persistently. Many towns and cities, Chandigarh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi are already listed.

If you are in any one of the states listed above, just visit: http://appointments.uidai.gov.in/ and book an appointment online as per your convenience. If your state or area is not listed online, don’t worry, you can wait for some more time as UIDAI is adding more states and cities constantly.

It have not seen the good response over this new policy , but this new step for UID registration may give a light to this project started by UIDAI. Actually, government should make people aware about UID registration. Lot of people still doesn’t know what is UID.
